Weatherhead, Leslie Dixon
- Weatherhead, Leslie Dixon
(1893–1975)
Devotional Writer and Broadcaster.
Weatherhead was the minister of the City Temple, London. For forty years, from the 1930s to the 1970s, he was well known in Britain as a religious broadcaster and also as a pastoral counsellor. The author of several books, he used the findings of the new science of psychiatry to throw light on his clients’ problems. For much of his career he wrote in the liberal tradition, but after the Second World War and with the changes that took place in the 1950s and 1960s, his work also reflected the secularisation and doubt that was gripping late twentiethcentury society.
